On the four sides of the
Cajatom different types of drums can be fixed, such as
skin-covered drums and/or the Spanish Cajón.
The traditional Cajón has two V-shaped strings, which can be tuned with two tuning pegs. Majid Karami has
designed the Cajatom with four separate strings and four tuning pegs. This design makes it
possible to tune all four strings like a stringed instrument, thereby producing superior sound. The
resonance body also gives the Cajatom more volume and bass.
Four separate strings per Cajón
Drums are designed with an inflatable tube under the skin. The pressure in this tube can be adjusted with
the aid of an air pump. Using this system it is possible to tune to any tone so that the desired harmony
can be achieved.
The drums are available with or without this pressure tube system.
